CSI is proud to announce our new Saddlepad line featuring 100% all-natural wool felt inserts. No longer do you have to worry about synthetic material next to your horse.
Why the change? Well, over the years we've had many of our customers request an all natural product. We actually began researching all-natural wool felt substitutes to our foam a couple of years ago. Then recently our foam supplier informed us they are no longer able to produce the PVC foam (used in our foam inserts) to our specifications. Unfortunately, there is only one manufacturer for the foam we use and because of the economy (they have changed formulation to cut costs) they are unwilling to comply to our formulation requirements. This news, combined with customer requests, means CSI Saddlepads has chosen to discontinue the foam liners (inserts) and move to using a 100% wool felt liners. For the time being, we will also offer our foam/felt inserts as well. To help our customers transition, we'll be offering the foam/felt inserts at the same price as our foam inserts and are dropping the price on our wool felt inserts (full pad with wool is now $350 and replacement inserts are $150). Foam/felt inserts are going fast and we plan to discontinue them by mid-November 2010.
We are very pleased with the performance of the wool felt we've chosen. In our testing, the wool felt has performed amazingly. It offers very similar shock absorption and pressure distribution as our foam, but is a 100% natural material which makes it very safe even for sensitive horses. It has also demonstrated excellent longevity in our tests and, thankfully, doesn't require a lot of care and cleaning (just an occasional brushing and a deep cleaning about once a season).
The wool liner also eliminates several concerns customers have had about our foam liners including slippage and premature wear due to environmental conditions.
The Flex-Plate, which is the true heartbeat of our pad and the thing that sets us apart from the competition, still provides the same protection it always has — that will never change.
